Responsibilities:
The candidate will manage the software development process and be able to effectively communicate on both business process and technical issues. The candidate's responsibilities include working with the business users and business analysts to define scope and gather business requirements, working with software developers to assemble conceptual and detail design to meet business needs, formulating and executing project plans, and leading the development and quality assurance teams to complete on time and within budget. Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial to this position as the candidate will interact heavily with business and other IT groups on an ongoing basis.
The candidate will promote project management best practices and coach team members in applying the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary for consistent delivery of quality project work and for continuous improvement.
Necessary Skills:
. Must be able to brainstorm and communicate technology ideas and issues with peers and IT management
. Proven ability to manage to deadlines and meet cost constraints
. Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and influence others outside of direct reporting lines
. Ability to support multiple projects at the same time and effectively communicate status, progress, and results to management
. Must be able to partner with the business to ensure their expectations are met and managed
. Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, negotiation, and partnership skills;
. Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations;
. Proficient in MS Office Suite (Windows, Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and experience with MS Project and Visio a Plus;
. Business analysis and writing business requirements a plus.
Specific
Experience:
. developing and maintaining formal customer contact
. effective project initiation, scope of work development, cost estimation, and establishment of detailed project baseline work breakdown structures
. risk analysis and management
. project execution, including negotiating change management of schedules and milestones
. monitoring detailed schedules to assure project objectives are met and work is performed within budget
. coordinating the participation of responsible entities
. development of lessons learned
. management of technology projects in the annuities industry
. internal and external communications, prioritization and interdependencies of project or key milestones, user training, risk management, and tracking and reporting of project results to stakeholders
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years related professional experience in a project management environment, with a minimum of 7 years of experience as a designated project or program manager.
Education: Four year degree or equivalent work experience required; MBA a plus, PMP a plus
