Position Summary

This full-time Paralegal position will have responsibility for providing support to the Edgewell Personal Care (EPC) Trademarks and Advertising Legal Team.


Accountabilities

  • Provides legal support to the EPC Legal Team and the business in the form of document review, basic legal research, drafting of legal and business communications, and legal review of contracts, advertising, trademark matters and other business materials.

  • Reviews and responds as appropriate to routine communications and requests from the EPC Legal Team, business teams and outside counsel.

  • Handles and assists with special projects as needed.

  • Direct communication with business clients and outside firms on substantive matters.

  • Partners with other members of the EPC Legal Team on cross functional initiatives or to assist as necessary.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Handles a variety of trademark, domain name and related matters such as:

    • Domain name portfolio management globally.

    • Manage trademark related customs matters (authorization letters, trademark recordals, etc).

    • Conduct trademark searches.

    • Handle legalization of documents.

    • Support enforcement matters, WebTMS data entry and related matters, and help with investigations of third parties.

    • Handle trademark assignments, changes of name, Powers of Attorney and related document preparation.


  • Supports administrative and substantive aspects of contracts, such as: review, analysis, drafting, negotiation, execution and organization of global marketing, sales and distribution contracts and related matters as necessary.

  • Assists with Social Media and Influencer Relationships and Agreements, including working with key agencies to administer a monitoring program, assisting with training for our agencies to ensure that they are using our influencer forms, and reviewing influencer posts, etc.

  • Handles a variety of advertising/marketing matters as needed, such as:

    • managing and inputting information into claims databases and process improvement as needed;

    • working with R&D and brand teams as needed to manage substantiation documents

    • assisting EPC Legal Team in claims substantiation process

    • review and approve packaging and advertising as per EPC guidelines and legal and regulatory requirements, as necessary, on a global basis.

    • review and approve marketing materials globally for certain brand groups from time to time, including:

      • Print Advertising

      • Coupons and FSIs

      • Packaging / Mechanicals

      • Digital & Social Media Materials

      • Point of Purchase/Displays

      • PR/Press Releases

      • Sweepstakes/Contest Rules

      • Work with global teams on campaigns, social media, filtering questions, etc.

      • review contests and sweepstakes, as necessary, and provide official rules and abbreviated rules to clients for use in marketing materials


    • May also perform additional duties and handle other projects as assigned.



Required Skills and Experience

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited university

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a paralegal

  • Paralegal Certificate required

  • Experience handling advertising & packaging review and approvals required; Experience handling global (US and international) trademark & domain name matters required;

  • Conceptual understanding of trademark and advertising law

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Professional, proactive and efficient

  • Experience with project management

  • Excellent time management skill and the ability to prioritize

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience contributing to successful teams

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Ability to work well both in a team and independently

  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

  • Applies good judgement, discretion and diligence

  • The ability to communicate effectively with business people and outside counsel

  • Experience working in-house at a public company preferred

  • Experience working with multiple locations both domestic and global

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly, MS Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint and SharePoint) and Adobe


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior in-house consumer products industry experience preferred.

  • Experience handling contest, sweepstakes & promotions and contracts strongly preferred.


Working Relationships & Environment

  • Will report directly to a staff attorney

  • Internal engagement includes: EPC Legal team and business teams

  • External engagement includes: Outside Counsel


Work Environment



  • The role will be based in Shelton

  • The Candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week

  • Ability and willingness for potential domestic travel as necessary.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
