Position Overview:
Design and develop new products from concept through full production launch using Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software. Responsible for product redesign for improved function, cost reductions and sustainability initiatives. Assist in tooling and manufacturing process choices Produce full engineering documentation. With direction, manage multiple projects while working in cross functional teams. Adhere to and obtain all required agency certifications.
Duties &
Responsibilities:
Working with other engineers or independently, develop/design new products from concept to full production using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor).
Design of electro-mechanical components & mechanisms comprised of plastic injection, stamped metal, sheet-metal and cast components.
Design products to be in conformance with all necessary agency standards (UL, CSA, ETL, IEC, TIA, IEEE, NEMA etc).
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously. Working within cross-functional teams. Report project status as needed to management and take appropriate actions to maintain project schedules.
Produce full engineering documentation including detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials, performance specifications and UL submittals.
Redesign products for improved function, cost reductions and sustainability initiatives.
Assist in tooling and manufacturing process choices. Disposition first article inspection reports.
Plan and secure necessary certification agency approvals for new and revised products (UL, CSA, ETL, IEC, TIA, IEEE, NEMA etc).
Additional responsibilities and tasks to be assigned as needed based on organizational and company needs.
A self starter capable of independently handling all required engineering tasks.
Education, Skills & Requirements:
BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
5-10 years in Design of Electro-Mechanical products.
Skilled in 3D CAD software preferably Autodesk Inventor .
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, high-volume plastic molding, metal stamping, engineering materials and certification standards such as UL, CSA, etc.
Capable of working on multiple simultaneous projects.
